Guest Conductor & Adjudicator

I made it a goal my last two years of teaching to have a guest conductor come work with my students at least once a month.  This was such a wonderful experience for my students.  They got to gain new insights and get practice following another conductor.  And I don’t know what it is when a guest conductor says the exact same thing I’ve been saying for two weeks and the students suddenly get it!  A little frustrating but worth it!  The real unexpected benefit was how much I got out of it.  As teachers we do not get enough opportunities for professional development or time to observe other teachers.  This was my chance once a month to observe, take notes, steal ideas, and add to my tool box techniques and tricks that have helped me greatly.
With over ten years of experience conducting award winning ensembles, I know I can add something to the great things you’re already doing in your classroom. Please contact me to set up a time when I can come work with your groups. Below are some examples of my choir’s performances and feedback from colleagues.

“It was our pleasure to have Ponderosa choir students sing on the invitational. I can only think of praise for your students, your accompanist, and you as their conductor. Your students sang with a richness that I seldom get to hear—how do you achieve that? I loved that they sounded mature, age-appropriate—um, sophisticated—that’s it! One got the impression that every piece was their favorite. Your conducting is so concise and clear. Thank you for being a good role model for me and others. I’m deeply impressed.”  – Dr. Ralph Hughes, American River College
